Automating Status Updates for Serialized Items in Work Orders

Purpose:

Enable the Serialized Item Module on any board, such as your Work Orders board, to link serialized items efficiently. Utilize automations to update the status of serialized items, such as marking items as 'In-Stock,' 'Sent Out for Repair,' or 'Awaiting Pick-up.'

What it Allows You to Do:

Automate status updates for serialized items when items are returned to customers.

Steps:

  1. Edit an existing automation on the board where the serialized item module is installed. Alternatively, you can create a new automation that will mark a serialized item as returned to the customer.

  2. Go to the board where the serialized item module is installed.

  3. Click "Automations" in the top menu bar.

  4. Click "Create an automation."

  5. Enter the title 'Update Serialized Item as Returned to Customer.'

  6. From the event menu, select 'Status changed (Moved).'

  7. Select the appropriate status (e.g., Returned to Customer, Shipped, etc.).

  8. Click "Continue."

  9. In the automation editor, click the "+" sign to add a new action.

  10. From the action menu on the left side, scroll down and select "Update Serial Status."

  11. Choose 'Returned to Customer' from the status dropdown.

  12. Click "Save."

  13. Click "Save" in the editor and turn on the automation.
