Boost productivity with workflows.

Set-up

  • Tudodesk back-office

What's this for?

  • How to build a workflow to represent your jobs, manufacturing, workshop or repair process you run.

Build a workflow

Tabs in Tudodesk help you organize your documents. They represent a unit (step) of a complex process to help focus your team, update your customer or carry out a manual or automated process. They can also help you segment your work by status.

Whether you're a workshop, repair centre or manufacturer, what matters is establishing a workflow for the way your team and business work.

The tabs on your board will help your team understand the status of the work you have incoming and in hand and what needs to be done to complete it.

A basic process for your workflow

The process is the progression of your work through different states (statuses), from the initial state to a first state.

For example, a basic process for managing jobs may consist of Draft, Queued, In-progress, On-hold, Completed and Shipped.

Jobs are created in Draft, Queued, Then placed in progress and transition to completed and finally shipped.

In a real-world scenario, for example, a powder coating shop, the In-progress stage could be segmented into a task-based process such as this:

  • Strip

  • Blast

  • Wash

  • Prep

  • Paint

  • Oven

  • QC

  • Invoice

  • Ship

  • Shipped

Whereas a repair centre might choose a workflow similar to this:

  • Landed

  • Assessment

  • Estimated

  • Approved

  • Parts ordering

  • In-progress

  • Completed

  • Test

  • Ready for pick-up

  • Collected

Jobs are free to move forward across the statuses but may also move back. The only rule is once a document moves from Draft, it can not move back.
