Document splits

You log ten parts or items in an Estimate, and you want to split each item out of the estimate and into its own job. Or let's say you have a PO for ten parts and want to track each part individually.

How do I do that?

Splits!

Document splits help you copy (split) line items out of documents into a new source document of any particular type, or into multiple source documents. This in turn creates a parent child relationship so all of the sub-documents (childs) are listed under the master document (parent).

What can are they used for

  1. Copy selected lines out of a document into multiple new documents of any type.

  2. Copy one or more lines into a new source document.

  3. Copy selected lines to another document but of a different quantity.

Real-world examples

  1. Create individual jobs for each line in a PO.

  2. Create a packing sheet for fewer units than the Job total.

  3. Create a packing sheet for particular items in an order or invoice.

  4. Split items from a job into additional jobs.

  5. Split items in an Invoice or Estimate into a job.
