It's the sunny season 🌞! The Tudodesk Team are constantly working on new improvements & features for you. As a result, we have a spectacular update on its way like no other before!

Document view and editing have had a complete make-over. We have added time tracking and timesheets, improved tasks and project view, custom properties, a cleaner, faster UI, and to top it all, lightning-fast keyboard access to commands with CMD K - What's CMD K? read the full update and find out...

Big UI improvements to document editing and views

We rebuilt the document view from the ground up. We listened to your requests and pulled everything into one mega update.

The new UI is faster, slicker and brings stacks more value in the same view. Documents are now open in view mode, providing a secure, more immediate, neater look.

An always-open project view sits in the right side pane, replacing the old slide-out menu that hid everything away.

Find everything on the same page (where it should be)

We moved customer messaging, tasks (finally), and attachments into separate tabs in the document header. Everything is easier to seem and nothing is hidden away.

Plus, we added new features: Timesheets and parts and materials tracking - More on these later.

The main document window has less clutter and gets a new feature that lets you create custom properties so you can track even more information on the documents you create.

The status bar has moved.

We moved the status bar from the main window and placed it in the side pain, so workflows with many tabs are more easily displayed, scrolled and selected.

CMK K (Find what you need to do, no mouse!)

But we did more. We added a new feature that helps your team find the things they need to do. We called it CMD K. Command K cuts down on mouse movements, mouse clicks and searching for what you need.

For example, if you want to print: Hit CMD K on your keyboard, type "PR..." and CMD K will magically list all the print functions so you can down arrow, HIT return and print.

Say you want to label a document green. Hit CMD K, type "GR...." select Green and hit return.

It's lightning-fast and makes actions super quick. But, above all, it's easy to learn.

For example, a new member of staff can't work out how to archive a document: Hit CMD K, Type "Archi..." and the archive function is magically displayed so they can select and run.

Editing mode (document view).

Editing is accessed by placing the document in edit mode. We did this for three reasons:

  1. It's faster when viewing documents.

  2. We can add role-based editing access for your team.

  3. It overcomes a nagging gripe that you could forget to save changes.

Time tracking.

We wanted to help you track timesheets for employees and, at the same time, track time against individual jobs/work orders. With the new timesheets feature, your team can log time individually into their timesheet or against a work order.

Time can be assigned to one of five buckets to segment it down to a process, such as CAD, prepping, blasting, repairs, and assembly.

You can create timesheet reports for overall projects or employees, including weekly and monthly reports.

Improvements for finishing shops - Improved color and finish selection

Many of our finishing shops will be excited to hear we have overhauled the colour selector. It's faster and fixes an issue that makes selecting multiple colors for a job challenging. But that is not all. You can now load your colour stock into the inventory system and instruct the color picker to display these colors and stock levels directly when assigning colors to jobs.

Improvements for workshops and repair centres - Custom properties

The key to the success of Tudodesk is its ability to be a fully customizable solution without becoming over-complicated.

For example, we know many of you want to track and collect specific information on the work orders you create. Adding a new feature, custom properties, helps you do just that. You can set up custom properties for any document, such as input boxes, numbers, checkboxes, and dropdowns. Great for:

  • warranty expiry dates

  • sizes and measurements

  • estimate costs

  • Specifications.

When is this happening?

We are pushing these new updates starting the first week of May, if you have any concerns about some of the changes or what to get a short preview/walk-through schedule a demo call in the calendar below:
