Steps


Testing:

  1. Create a new Invoice for $1. Make sure this Invoice uses the TEST John Does account or a customer account that is assigned to your email address. This is to ensure you receive the payment email and pay link.

  2. Send the Invoice by marking it as Sent.

  3. Open your inbox and locate the payment request email.

  4. Click the pay button.

  5. Make payment using your card for $1

  6. You should receive a payment receipt email after you see the payment success screen.

  7. Login to your Stripe dashboard and confirm that the $1 payment is listed under the payments section.


Troubleshooting Stripe payment set-up:

The most common issue when setting up Stripe payments are:

  1. I do not receive a payment link

  2. When I click the pay link I do not see the Stripe payment page.

Follow these steps below to resolve these issues:

  1. Make sure your Stripe account is in LIVE mode.

  2. Check your API keys are correct SK_LIVE & PK_LIVE, not test. If you have your Stripe account in TEST mode, you may have copied test Keys.

  3. In order for your customers to see the Stripe Payment portal, you must have a Stripe Invoice template set up. Make sure the Invoice template assigned to your invoice board is a Stripe Invoice Template.

  4. Although you may have set up and assigned a Stripe Invoice template, existing invoices will not automatically adopt this. If you want an existing invoice to use the Stripe payment portal, open the Invoice in the back office, click the show menu, document settings, and select Stripe Invoice and save under the document template setting.

  5. If you do not receive a payment email link or do not see a PAY link in the email payment due body, go to your Invoice board, click the show menu and select automation. Under automation check, the Invoice auto-sender email and payment reminders (if required) are turned on. In addition, make sure each email has the CTA - Payment button turned on.


If you have a payment link but it does not open the Payment page

This may occur if you sent the payment link and one or more of the above steps was not set-up or correct. To overcome this issue:

  1. Create a new invoice and send.

  2. Mark the existing Invoice as On-hold. Then move it to Sent to re-trigger the payment link send.
