Tudodesk's powerful file-picker tool offers a plethora of options when uploading files into your projects.

In this tutorial we will explore the three most common ways you will be uploading files.

The file-picker is used in our web-app as well as in the client portal and on our web-form widgets.

In this example we are uploading a new file as an attachment to a message from the document viewer. To reach this step view any document and scroll down to the file attachments section.

Open the file-picker under the 'file attachments' heading shown below

The file-picker tool appears on a range of different documents and applications.

Pop-ups blocked: You may need to grant your browser access to opening pop-ups for the file picker to open. For Google Chrome check out this article: Allow pop-ups in Google Chrome.

Uploading A File

To upload a file you are presented with the following options:

  • Drag a file into the centre of the drop-zone.

  • Upload a local file using the 'Choose files' button in the centre of the screen.

  • Take a picture using your device camera or attached webcam.

  • Browse files on 'My Computer.'

  • Enter a direct URL to a file online.

  • Search for web-images on Google through the file-picker tool.

  • Browse files on Google Cloud Drive.

In this example we will walk-through the three most common avenues for uploading a new file.

Uploading a file from your local computer or drive

  1. Click 'Choose files' in the centre of the drop-zone.

  2. Browse and select the file on your local file system.

  3. The file will now appear in the file-picker window.

  4. You can now select another file to upload or alternatively click 'Upload' to complete.

  5. The file-picker will close and the file will appear in the file/attachment area.

Taking a picture with your device or webcam

  1. Click 'Take picture' (from the option list on the left side of the screen).

  2. You may need to grant permission for your web-browser to access your camera. For Google Chrome see: Use your camera and microphone.

  3. Take the photo using your device camera.

  4. The file will then appear in the file-picker window.

  5. You can now select another file or click 'Upload' to complete.

  6. The file-picker will close and the file will appear in the file/attachment area.

The built-in image search allows you to search for images using the Google search engine without having to open another tab or window.

  1. Click 'Web Images' (from the option list on the left side of the screen).

  2. Enter your image search terms in the box provided.

  3. Click 'Search.'

  4. Select the file(s) required in the returned image search.

  5. Click 'Select.'

  6. You can select multiple files or click 'Upload' to complete.

  7. The file-picker will close and the file will appear in the file/attachment area.
